Mitch Clay: the Man, the Myth, but mostly Man...
I grew up in the Ozarks region of Missouri, Springfield primarily. This was the backdrop for most of the years of my childhood. Once entering high school I moved to a smaller town outside of Springfield but still in the region. It was in high school that I became very involved with band, drama, speech and debate, and (most importantly) youth group. It was in these activities that I gained the passion for people and sharing who I am with others. It wasn't until I landed at York College in little York, Nebraska that these passions made sense. After a semester of being an education major, it was obvious that God wanted me to do youth ministry. I dove in full force into my classes and new found calling. By the time I graduated from York College, I had four youth ministry internships, experience leading worship, lock-ins, youth rallies, and service projects.
York College was also an important place for me because it gave me the chance to meet the woman that would steal my heart forever. I met Nathana my sophomore year. We were part of a group of friends that got together to play a game of cards. This time we played a game called Mau, which is based on embarrassing your friends who don't know how to play. It just so happened that neither Nathana nor I knew how to play. It was through this mutual embarrassment that bonded our friendship. This friendship eventually grew into an attraction. Attraction led to dating, engagement, and marriage. Many more details will probably be shared in our blog from time to time...
I also have a great interest in music. I have played guitar ten years and drums for fourteen years. These are still passions of mine along with youth ministry and being the best husband that I can be. I have recorded my own music quite a bit. This may be something that I share on the site from time to time.
